We’re currently looking for Applications & Electronic Engineer

Apply theoretical and practical knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic devices, design theory, engineering methods and analysis, and first-hand experience designing electronic circuits or software, as assigned, to any of the Applications Engineering department functions including Technical Support, Technical Content, Voice of the Engineer, and more. This consists of answering technical questions, writing online technical content, or more that requires general technical competence.

Responsibilities

Must be able to...

• Perform all Associate Applications EngineerlAssistant Applications Engineer taskslresponsibilities at 'mastery' level; demonstrating expertise in product management topics & processes at Digi-Key. The work itself may not change, but level of mgmt oversight decreases.
• Demonstrate technical competence/prowess in electrical engineering as measured by ability to answer general technical questions of the following nature: part number ambiguities, associated tool compatibility, general suitability for use questions, suppliers we carry, part categorization, cross references, web site navigation, and more from all sources, mediums, and tools
• Maintain ethical integrity when answering questions such as notifying the customer when speculating on an answer
• Document technical support incidents per department standards
• Effectively interact with people, including management and you cultivate goodwill from peers, customers, and suppliers
• Accept responsibility to author technical content describing electronic devices and associated parts
• Understand area KPlslOKRs (e.g. market share, SKU countlnew line items, new suppliers, NPI packets, etc.); be able to align your actionslrecommendations to those metrics (within your scope of responsibility)
• Actively identify opportunities for continued learning (e.g. skills, knowledge, etc.); regularly create and take advantage of learning opportunities
• Identify gaps in online offerings and recommend to Partnership Marketing a tactical approach believed to close those gaps and address customer needs; solution determined in partnership with Partnership Marketing.
• Generate original online technical content including articles, biogs, schematics, board files, etc.
• Coordinate and collaborate with Partnership Marketing to execute supplier marketing plans
• Coordinate content development timelines and communicate with assigned Partnership Marketing Mgr. and Apps Engrg mgmt

Other Typical Tasks May also Include:

• Specializing in a technology, a supplier, or department function

• Design electronic & electrical hardware, firmware, software, mechanical components, and combinations thereof
• Offering solutions to customers without help from others
• Reporting progress against goals
• May assist in the review of potential new and existing supplier contracts
• May take on additional responsibilities from Principal AE Technician or AE leadership
• May participate on cross-functional working teams or tasks forces
• May participate in customer, supplier conference calls and strategy meetings
• May test system updates and applications
• May participate in the creation of training & documentation of processes as well as the facilitation of training
• May travel - internationally and or domestically - as needed
• May be assigned to Partnership Marketing jobs to assist with targeted marketing campaigns

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering
• Typically, 2+ years’ experience in IT, Technical Marketing, Sales, Engineering or other relevant work experience
• Strong understanding of the various functions and the industry operates in.
• Works well in cross functional teams
• Demonstrable knowledge and thorough understanding of electronic assemblies, construction, and testing techniques
• Hands-on troubleshooting skills
• Experience using EDA and CAD tools
• Able to work independently or collaboratively and maintain a positive attitude
• Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
• Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
• Must be able to perform the following behavioral competencies; analytical capacity, attention to detail, communication, customer/client focus, ethical conduct, initiative, manages execution, personal effectiveness/credibility, positive attitude, problem solving, professionalism, project management, thoroughness, time management
• Fluent in German and English language.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in engineering
• Exposure to the electronics distribution industry
• Completion of various DKU courses - Ex.How to Conduct Dinner with a Supplier, Business Etiquette
